Robotic manipulator ABB IRB 120 with laser scanner M2-iLAN is used for robotic welding. If the scanner was equipped with water cooling it would be able to function in temperatures reaching 500 °C. It is used mostly for navigating the robot when welding and for quality control of the weld joint after finishing the operation. In the video it can be seen how the scanner is able to capture various welding work-piece profiles (white line) and identify type of used material (yellow points).
